About the event

At the 7PM Thursday April 25th of the General Meeting of the Oakmont Democratic Alliance, hosted by the Oakmont Democratic Club, we will examine the very different climate agendas being proposed by former President Trump and the GOP and President Biden and the Democratic Party. Angela Nardo-Morgan of the Marine Conservation Institute will lead a discussion of what is at stake in the election. Former President Trump has proposed greatly expanding the development and use of fossil fuels (see Trump for President 2024 website). During his Presidency, Biden has gained approval of major investments in “green energy.” Democrats hope if they secure both the Senate and House in 2024 to accelerate reduction in fossil fuel use.

Angela Nardo-Morgan studied at San Francisco State University, Sonoma State University, and U.C. Berkeley and has a graduate degree in Restoration and Historical Ecology. Angela was a faculty member in the Environmental Studies Department at Sonoma State University and College of Marin. She is the first woman in Sonoma county to receive the Switzer Environmental Fellowship and went on to become the recipient of a Switzer leadership grant to establish the first watershed station in the Sonoma Valley protecting and restoring local streams and watersheds. She has worked for various organizations including Greenpeace, American Friends Service Committee, Marine Mammal Center, Russian Riverkeeper and Audubon Canyon Ranch.

We will also discuss next steps in the implementation of the Oakmont Democratic Alliance Action Plan presented earlier in the month.

The 7PM hybrid meeting at the East Rec Center will be preceded by a social at 6:30PM. Please feel free to bring your favorite beverage or snacks to share. All Oakmonters are welcome.
